Hip Hop Emcee Oddisee “Tangible Dream” LP Album via Fat Beats

Hip-hop emcee Oddisee dropped a new album via Fat Beats Records in 2013 called “Tangible Dream.” As the title suggests, this is about the average man’s dream. Something attainable, something the everyday man can strive for while still maintaining self-respect as well as the respect of his fellow man. Originating from the “Low Budget Crew,” consisting of notable members Kev Brown, Kenn Starr, Sean Born, Roddy Rod, Critically Acclaimed, Kaimbr, Cy Young, Kenwood, Hassaan Mackey, Peter Rosenberg, and I.Q. Oddisee has been putting it down for some time now, as well as raising the bar for hip-hop in general.

Artist BIO: I am a Sudanese-American emcee and producer from Washington, DC, who currently lives in the gentrified part of Brooklyn. I eat out several times a week, and I also travel the world, sampling the best that cities across the globe have to offer. Do I live in a penthouse loft? Am I dining in five stars restaurants? Can you only find me in the most exclusive areas? Do I own a jet? The answer to all the above questions is most certainly no. I’m just a regular man from Prince George’s County, Maryland that figured shit out.

I discovered at an early stage that I could make a career in an arena dominated by artists that sell false dreams. I realized that although the masses may not know of my body of work, it doesn’t take the whole world to have the world I want. Tangible Dream is a mix-tape dedicated to the deconstruction of our traditional ideas of success & shedding light on the possibility of a sustainable rap life.

The classical lyrics of this mix tape were written in economy class seats, while the beats were produced on long bus trips, and lastly, these songs were recorded in Airbnb apartments. All I ever want to do is make music for a living so I can live to make music. The only dreams I’m interested in are the ones I can grasp and also achieve. It just so happens that anything you want bad enough can always be obtained. Perhaps the world may never know of all my accomplishments, but accomplishments they are, nonetheless.
