Exclusive Interview with S.O.U.L. “December 21st” Video Single

Memphis crew S.O.U.L. releases their Official music video to our “Cold War” and “Bonfire” freestyles called “December 21st” from the up coming mixtape “The Pursuit”. MRC Promotions catches up with the group to find out whats going on with the music and the crews history.

Q. Big Noise: Where are you from?
A. S.O.U.L.: We are from Memphis,TN all of us were born and raised here.

Q. Big Noise: How many members in your crew?
A. S.O.U.L.: We have 3 members

Q. Big Noise: What are your names?
A. S.O.U.L.: Delair, Idi’A’que, and Teco

Q. Big Noise: How did you come up with the name S.O.U.L. and what does it stand for?
A. S.O.U.L.: In highschool we originally had the name Y.S.M. It stood for young,smart, and motivated. Once we graduated we decided that name was to immature. So Teco made the acronym S.O.U.L. which means spitting out unique lines. So we decided to make that our group name.

Q. Big Noise: How would you describe your style of rap?
A. S.O.U.L.: More of an alternative southern style

Q. Big Noise: Do you produce your own beats?
A. S.O.U.L.: Our 3rd member Delair is a producer who produces most of our beats

Q. Big Noise: How long have you been MCing/rapping?
A. S.O.U.L.: We started around The same time which was 10th grade when Teco and Idi met which was 10th grade so it has been 4-5 years. Our ages are 17-19

Q. Big Noise: Who are some of the artists that have influenced you?
A. S.O.U.L.: Outkast for sure but we are influenced by a variety of artist like Kid Cudi, Lupe Fiasco, 2pac, Lauryn Hill, Black Hippy and many more.

Q. Big Noise: Any other types of music you listen too?
A. S.O.U.L.: Neo Soul, Rock, Country, etc.

Q. Big Noise: If you could collab with any artist who would it be?
A. S.O.U.L.: Kid Cudi, Nas, Black Hippy, Lupe Fiasco, Lauryn Hill, Asap Rocky and many more.

Q. Big Noise: What do you do outside of hip hop any hobbies?
A. S.O.U.L.: Nothing, our lives are mostly about music, poetry was our hobbies so we turned it into hip-hop and made this group.

Q. Big Noise: What advice would you give to up and coming rap artist?
A. S.O.U.L.: Never give up, never let anything distact you. If you have a dream do anything to make sure it comes true and stay consistent.
