Since we’ve been following Black Milk out of Detroit, beginning in 2005 at the early start of his career, he has been doing his thing and raising the bar for hip-hop/soul music on a global level. This most recent project shows us his versatility as he crafts a soulful sound using electronic drum and synthesizer elements from the 70s and 80s. The level of quality regarding his timing, orchestration, and sound quality rival that of many legendary producers. Influenced by J Dilla and other Detroit icons, Black Milk has defined his place in history as one of the true contributors to the industry. It will be very exciting to see what his projects with singer Mel ‘Burning Stones’ EP and others will have in store for 2014 – stay tuned!

Black Milk put out a beautiful EP this year; his production skills are world-class, and it’s majorly looking like anything he touches is magic. With his recent collaboration with singer Mel, Black Milk has delivered a 4-track EP entitled “Burning Stones,” a project that’s available for purchase through various music platforms such as iTunes and Bandcamp, to name a few. You can also get the full stream experience on Soundcloud to get a first-hand feel of the beautiful and amazing music this brother has concocted for us this time. Hip Hop Beat Making Tip: When making Detroit style hip hop beats, the type of drums you select and the drum patterns you program are critical. Selecting proper samples also plays an important part in the sound. 1970’s black film soundtracks and/or soulful samples tend to work well. To update or modernize the sound of your Detroit hip hop, try adding neo-soul organic timing to the top end of your drums. If you are someone looking to perfect the Detroit hip-hop sound as a beat maker or music producer, Big Noise MPC has the resources you need to deliver the goods. Video tutorials, hip hop drum samples, soulful sound packs and a niche collection of analog audio gear. All part of the select offerings designed to help you achieve success. Quality that sets you apart from the competition.
