Classic turntable and mixer adorned with stunning images of DJ Premier and Pete Rock. Original era ghetto blaster, recreated with meticulous proportions, embellished with iconic images of Notorious B.I.G. and Tupac Shakur salutes hip-hop history.
About Chain: Her Japanese name is Shinobu Fukuda, and her Korean name is In Cha. She is a third generation Korean Japanese born in Kurashiki, Okayama, Japan. She was raised Korean until 18 years old because Japan does not allow their citizens to have more than one citizenship. She changed her citizenship to Japanese when she was 18 years old. Since then, she has been using her Korean name “CHAIN (Cha In*)” as her artist name to remember that she still has Korean blood. Her name “CHAIN” includes the meaning of “chain” in English as connection to others through her art.
She first came into contact with Hip Hop when she was 14 years old, and soon after Reggae music. Around that time, her mother gave her 100 color pencils of Faber Castel, which led her to start drawing when she was 15 years old. Since she has been drawing, her motif has often been Black People because of her respect towards to Hip Hop and Reggae. At the ages of 19 and 21 years old, she went to Jamaica by herself. About Gazoo: Out of nature comes art. Out of disaster comes creativity and expression. Out of family comes a sense of design. Plymouth, Montserrat, native Jason “Gazoo” Allen is showing NY city how a catastrophic event can lead to a sublime artistic experience. Known as the black sand artist, Gazoo interprets his island’s rebirth through drawings and installations in the New York city region. During a visit in 2009 to his homeland, which was devastated by the eruption of the Soufriere Hills volcano in 1995, Gazoo collected black sand and was instantly reconnected to his homeland and the urge to express his talent as and amazing visual artist.
Gazoo has exhibited with the Montserrat Progressive Society of New York. You can see some of his Black Sand pieces in private collections in New York, Atlanta, Miami and Japan. constantly working Gazoo also hosts weekly live painting events around New York city and a collaborating with Core Spaces, a New York real estate company, to place his black sand art and sculptures in New York City rental properties. Being a architect student at The High school of Art and Design in New York city and at New York city Technical College.
Gazoo left college after 1 year to get into carpentry to learn the trade and skills as a builder. He have now use those carpentry skills to his new found techniques where he collects different materials from construction sites and mold them into sculptural artwork.
