We chose the API console style transformers for this design because of their legendary sonic coloring. The sonic history defined by Automated Process Inc aka API is legendary regarding audio recordings. The first API mix-console was released in 1967. These Cinemag API units provide a unique sound. This stereo high performance, bifilar wound, audio output transformer, is a no compromise, professional audio signal transformer primarily intended for studio and mastering operation. Bifilar wound audio transformers are wound with two wires side-by-side to achieve tight coupling. This significantly reduces leakage inductance and improves high-frequency performance, crucial for transparent audio reproduction. It exhibits wide bandwidth and distortion characteristics from 20Hz to 22kHz. This audio signal transformer offers low distortion, even at high signal levels. The copper transformer shield provides comprehensive electrical shielding. The unit delivers a tight punch in the kick and snare drum and glues the audio signal together.
