Knock-Boxx MPHC1 High Current Stereo Pre-Amp with API Transformers
The Knock-Boxx MPHC1 is a high-current Pre-Amp designed specifically for boosting the signal from modern drum machines and DAW’s. It provides analog warmth and flavor to sterile digital signals, making them sound much more pleasing to the ear. This is a fully analog device, designed for beat-makers, music producers, studio engineers, and mastering engineers. This analog stereo pre-amp is a game changer. For each channel, the unit employs a Ratio and LFB switch. They can be used together or separately to enlarge the size, punch and weight of the low end. The unit comes stock with TI NE5532P Op-Amps in IC sockets. The Op-Amps can be swapped with different IC’s to augment the sonic tone of the unit.

The MPHC1’s circuit employs parallel amp stages for greater power and lower distortion. This parallel-op amp concept has been known in theory for decades and was put to practical use in Douglas Self’s “5532 OpAmplifier” power amplifier. The API style audio transformer delivers a punchy American Console sound, adding beautiful color and saturation. The MPHC1 sounds colorful and clear even at high gain and when driving low-impedance headphones.
