The CP5 Colour Mic Preamp is the first microphone preamp to feature a Colour plugin option. On its own, the CP5 is a reference-quality, 500-series mic preamp with copious amounts of clean gain, 66dB to be exact. When you add a Colour plugin, the CP5 is the most tonally versatile preamp in the world. To add sonic flavor, this unit includes the CTX mkll Transformer Colour module, it imparts a beautiful American console sound on the preamp through an API 2520 style discrete op-amp and Cinemag iron core transformer.

World Class Preamp: The CP5 is a transparent, low-noise preamp based on the “clean wire with gain” school of design. Therefore, the preamp’s signal path features only best-in-class components, including WIMA capacitors and THAT Corp. ICs. Preamp gain and Colour are adjustable via stepped controls for easy recall and stereo operation.

Add Some Colour: Plug any Colour module into the CP5 to add some character to your preamp. The CTX mkll Transformer Colour module is included. Dial in the exact amount of Colour you want with the stepped Colour control. Then, switch between tone and transparency with the Colour bypass switch. The CP5 Colour Mic Preamp works with or without a Colour installed.

Fully Assembled & Tested: Hand assembled with care and passion by the Big Noise staff, in the united states. Approx 8 hour build time. The CP5 Colour Mic Preamp build embodies high quality components and craftsmanship, we test and characterized each unit after assembly. Install unit in a 500-Series lunch-box or rack-mount chassis with power supply for operation.
