The group, consisted of Hasheem Amin and Karheem and they released their first mainstream album in 1999 on Southcoast entitled, “Makin Moves”. Eventually they left Southcoast and after producing 3 uderground cult classics the group decided to solo. Hasheem released an album called, “Blackboy by Hasheem Amin”, in 2006 and can be bought at CD Baby Dot Com. Karheem is now a member of the Ghetto Slaves and works closely with Skip of UTP. Hasheem is comin hard for 2011 and beyond with a fire flow and consciously spitting about the realities of comin up in uptown New Orleans. The 17th is serious!

Q. Big Noise: Peace Hasheem, whats going on?
A. Hasheem: Peace fam, what’s going on is the movement behind my album The Reunion.

Q. Big Noise: Can you tell the people where you’re from?
A. Hasheem: I was born and raised in Hollygrove, Louisiana in New Orleans 17th Ward and proud.

Q. Big Noise: Whats going down with the hip hop scene in New Orleans?
A. Hasheem: This thing is major and blowin up in my city, with new life from movie productions and a resurgence in the musical culture that is New Orleans, you see hip hop leadin the way and cats are ready. They deserve it.

Q. Big Noise: I know you have the Reuion record out right now, can you describe the record, what inspired you to make this album?
A. Hasheem: The reunion is a project I started working on in response to how I was feeling about a lot of music I was hearing. I couldn’t find the kind of hip-hop that I grew up on so I went to work. Its classic hip-hop with awesome features from Sadat X, Reggie Hammin, Sean C, and Ghettoslaves. Tracks produced by my man Brent Herrera except for The Microphone and Never Forget, which were produced by Sean C.

Q. Big Noise: How did you come up with the title the Reuion?
A. Hasheem: The title, The Reunion, is about coming back to fundamentals. Its about the reunion of body and spirit that will produce works that are worthy of God, worthy of ourselves.

Q. Big Noise: You got Ill features on this project, will there be any more Killah Priest collabs in the future?
A. Hasheem: I’m working on it, I would like to work with him and the rest of Wu Tang, I’ll reach out and see what up.

Q. Big Noise: How did that hook up with Killah Priest happen, any collabs with Jay Electronica in the works?
A. Hasheem: It was simply right place, right time networking. I plan on reaching out to Jay Electronica, he’s tight with my man Dennis Holt with Art2facts Films, who filmed and directed my videos, so I’m sure we will work together in the near future.

Q. Big Noise: If you could do a track with any artist in the game who would it be?
A. Hasheem: If I could work with any artist in the game it would be Common. Right now I’m listening to The Dreamer and The Reunion and I think the message is one and the same. Powerful works!

Q. Big Noise: Since putting the Reuion record online digitally how much has it helped you develop a buzz, as opposed too putting out a physical CD?
A. Hasheem: I realized the benefit of digital distribution with my album Blackboy in ‘05; you have the ability to instantly reach fans locally and all over the world. It is definitely working to create a buzz that would have been harder to achieve with physical cds and more costly.

Q. Big Noise: Any new projects we should look for in 2012?
A. Hasheem: Yes, my next release will be in February, black history month, called, “Call of the Coon”, on Free the Land Records. The Reunion set the tone but this album will let em know I’m here to stay.

Q. Big Noise: Where can fans find more of your music, tour and contact info?
A. Hasheem: I can be found on Twitter, Facebook, iTunes and myspace.

Q. Big Noise: Any last wise words? Thanks for rapping with us Hasheem!
A. Hasheem: I want to thank my fans for the support and to look out for Hasheem Amin in 2012! Thank you my friend and peace.

From Drake to The Weeknd – Marco Polo to Saukrates – and more, the T Dot has been spitting out a variety of talent over the years. And the latest to emerge is 4th Pyramid, who will release his official debut solo album The Pyramid Scheme on March 13th via Silk Ivory/Lyrics To Go/Universal Music.

About The Project: Despite The Pyramid Scheme serving as Pyramid’s official debut, the rapper/producer/engineer has cut his teeth behind the scenes for some time now, collaborating with a list of artists that includes names and labels such as Wu-Tang Clan, Definitive Jux, MF Doom, Pete Rock, and even the Black Eyed Peas. He’s also one half of the DJ/production team The Sheen Bros, along with Cosmo Baker, and the duo released their 2011 EP through Scion’s A/V label. In December 2011, Pyramid launched his own imprint, Silk Ivory, a boutique label that was quickly signed to Universal Music, and through the label 4th Pyramid will release his debut solo album, The Pyramid Scheme, on March 13, 2012.

Pyramid’s new album, The Pyramid Scheme, will include features and production from the likes of Greg Nice, Marco Polo, Saukrates, Rich Kidd, and more. To kick things off Pyramid is excited to release the album’s debut single and video “Webslinger“. The song, a lyrical assault produced by Simahlak, is backed with a video directed by Adrian Parks and Pyramid, himself, with co-direction and set design by Johnny Nghiem, and the clip contains some dangerously appropriate visuals, centered around a tarantula crawling loose across a woman’s naked, heavily tattooed body. “I wanted to do something a little more intriguing than the average video so I thought, ‘why not?’” explains Pyramid. “And what better canvas than the female body?”

The video below delivers a retro vibe featuring legendary emcee Greg Nice. The checkered taxi cab and dashiki may pay homage to the throwback vibe of the Sheen Bros’ “It’s So Hot,” but directors The ICU keep this party clip fresh and focused. This red hot blast of disco rap from 4th Pyramid, Cosmo Baker and special guest Greg Nice stays lit from dusk ’til dawn. You’re going to need to keep those shades on, ya’ll.

About The Artist: 4th Pyramid is a MC/Producer/Songwriter from Toronto, Canada. Coming up the ranks as a producer and engineer, 4th Pyramid has quietly stacked credits for the Black Eyed Peas, members of Wu-Tang Clan, MF Doom, and Pete Rock, while licensing his own tunes with Sprite, Scion, and various feature films. Pyramid is also one-half of the DJ/production team The Sheen Bros, along with Cosmo Baker, and together the duo released their 2011 EP through Scion’s A/V label.

Shot in a community setting, the lifestyle of collecting records is a notable backdrop for this nostalgic video from the 1960’s. The beauty of the outdoor landscape blended with venue scenes set the tone for this story. Could this be the prelude to another black film? Recently re-released by Wax Poetics Records this project represents the soulful music that the label is known for. We’ll have to stay tuned to see whats going with April. As the video states… “To Be Continued”.

“The Something About April album depicts the trials and tribulations of an interracial couple, circa 1968,” says producer/musician Adrian Younge, adding, “it’s a concept album. Each song chronicles certain moments within the overall story.” On this album, out now on Wax Poetics Records, Younge collaborated with Motown guitar legend Dennis Coffey for the old-school soul track “Lovely Lady,” which, says Younge, “depicts the point in time when the couple actually meets. She is shy and falls in love; she constantly dreams about being affectionate with her male companion. Her candid dreams take her from slow dancing, to shower scenes with him. In writing this song, I sought to stimulate that old feeling of romance: a kind of romance that was seldom questioned. Some call it ‘love at first sight.’ Hopefully, our project audio-visually captures this notion.”

For those of you who don’t know, Waxpoetics is possibly one of the dopest industry rags out to date. They specialize in bringing the true stories to light; from the original soul artists and producers who created that signature sound, to the hip-hop producers and artists who leverage that sound, all bases are covered. From Roy Ayers to Black Milk, they have interviewed some of the best artists on the planet. You can find articles about digging-in-the-crates to step your DIC game up, or about analog-jones to sharpen your studio knowledge. They also re-release timeless soul records that you’ll want in your collection.

This dream was cultivated during a time when hate and terror was dealt out on a daily basis, in so many American neighborhoods and communities. We’ve come along way since then however we still have many miles to go. Recently many new immigrants have entered our country from places in the world where the words of Dr King have never been heard. This has effected our communities and work places by casting us back in time, sometimes giving the elusion that we’ve made little progress at all. Just think of the obstacles faced by Dr King Jr and his congregation during the 1960’s.

Brother and sisters it’s time to take a look around… at a time when schools are closing down, folks can’t find any work and cities are going bankrupt - we are presented with priorities like; new football stadiums in Santa Clara, plenty of unaffordable apartment complexes popping up everywhere and bonuses handed out to top executives in top-heavy corporations. Are we on the right track? Are we organized and unified?

Jobs and the economy are the next battle. The occupy movement is the challenge on our plate today. In this week of remembrance let’s take part in the dream, support the ideals set forth by this great leader. Today we all feel the pinch of these tough economic times. As we find identity and purpose for the Occupy Movement lets remember the great words spoken by Dr King; “…the greatness of America is the right to protest for RIGHT!”

The debut video “Aspirations” from the 11 track project featuring Soul Khan showcases the raw talent brought fourth by this aspiring emcee. The cinematography and effects are innovative, the team definitely brings it home with this quality independent video. You may also want to peep the video “Getting Home” - both of these videos are done in HD.
Q. Big Noise: What’s good Koncept, where are you from?
A. Koncept: Born and raised in Queens, NY. Spent some time drinking in Warwick, NY, and Burlington, VT. Now residing in Brooklyn.

Q.Big Noise: What was your first experience with hip-hop culture?
A. Koncept: Writing graffiti when I was 7 with my big homie, Neptune.

Q. Big Noise: When did you start making hip-hop music?
A. Kncept: I got my first pair of turntables when I was 11. Free-styling for fun came shortly after. Midway through high school I started to take it more seriously. When I was in college was when I realized I wanted to finish school as soon as possible to give 135% to my music.

Q. Big Noise: Can you tell us how you usually come up with ideas for your songs?
A. Koncept: Usually I let the beat rock and let it tell me what it wants me to say. It’s the beat that sets the tone for everything. You’ll hear a lot of personal stuff on “Awaken”. Go! Go! Listen.

Q. Big Noise: Tell us what’s your favorite hip-hop album of all time?
A. Koncept: It’s hard to pick just one, but Nas “Illmatic”, Wu-Tang “Enter the 36 Chambers”, A Tribe Called Quest “Midnight Maurauders” are some of the albums that made me the artist I am today.

Q. Big Noise: Are there any producers in the business you’d like to work with?
A. Knocept: DJ Premier!

Q. Big Noise: Do you consider yourself an independent or underground artist?
A. Koncept: I am an independent artist. Let the success come! haha

Q. Big Noise: Where do you see yourself in the game 5 years from now?
A. Knocept: Living in a castle in the Bahamas. haha Nah. Just making the music I love. Traveling and performing, and having a great time! Hopefully making enough money to have an even better time.

Q. Big Noise: What was the inspiration for the “Awaken” project?
A. Koncept: It’s my first born. Awaken is the introduction into who I am. Before we can step further into my career, my life, I wanted the people to understand who I am as a person, and as an artist. I’m just like you, you, and you. I’ve been through shit just like everybody else. Relationships, lost friendships, death of loved ones, shitty days, good days. Now I’m taking all the negative stuff and putting it behind me. I’m moving forward, and it’s time to make some great things happen in my life.

Q. Big Noise: The “Aspirations” video is dope, can you tell us more about the video?
A. Koncept: The video was shot by my good friends, and the very talented Hyer Ground crew. My homie, the OG, Papito is in it. The ladies love Papito.

Q. Big Noise: Where can your fans find your latest releases?
A. Koncept: You can go buy “Awaken” on iTunes, or pick up the physical product, and feel it in real life over at fatbeats.com or undergroundhiphop.com. Follow me on twitter or facebook. Another great place to check our work is the Koncept website.

Q. Big Noise: Can you tell us about any future projects in the works?
A. Koncept: I’m working on a album with DJ Brace. 2 Brown Bag AllStars EPs coming in the very near future, as well as our debut album as a group. Gonna be monstrous! Then my next solo album will be fully produced by Hermano, J57.

Q. Big Noise: Any show or tours coming up that we should know about?
A. Knocept: We’re having the album release party for “Awaken” on February 2nd at Public Assembly in Brooklyn, NY. Setting up a Canadian tour possibly in the Spring. Possibly some Europe dates as well. We’re working out all the dates and details right now.

Q. Big Noise: Got any advice for aspiring artist trying to break in to the business?
A. Koncept: You need to work harder than everybody else. Be yourself, and make the music that you genuinely love. People will appreciate it, and your fans will grow. A good marketing strategy is always a great idea as well. Oh yeah, be patient. This doesn’t happen overnight. And if it does, it will fold overnight as well. And don’t forget to show love and support to other artists around you. We can all be successful together. A team is stronger than an individual.

Take time to check out F Major demoing the Machine 1.5 unit on Youtube. The ability to edit your sounds in the PC or MAC with powerful editors and/or plugins then go right to music production without having to move sounds back-and-forth between the drum machine and DAW help to optimize workflow in the studio or laboratory.

Another concern that we’ll have to check when the MPC Renaissance is released is the quality of the Audio I/O circuitry. Akai claims this unit will emulate the sound of vintage drum machines like the MPC60 and MPC3000. Great sounding drum machines like the Emu SP1200, Akai MPC3000 and Sequential Circuits Studio 440 have defined what heavy hitting tracks should sound like due to the detailed attention taken when the audio circuits are designed by these companies. Allot of new units are now made overseas and may not have the great circuitry that made the historical units famous. These days shortcuts are taken as engineers try to achieve these tonal qualities via software algorithms.

On a separate note Akai really seems to be targeting the black (African American) hip-hop producers in their trailer video featuring SeanC & LV with Araab Mizik shown below. I wonder how many black engineers or executives are employed at Akai headquarters.

Akai Professional: Fusing Akai Professional’s legendary MPC layout and workflow with the power of your computer, MPC Renaissance is an unrivaled instrument for music production. The new flagship is a fully integrated hardware/software system: MPC Renaissance allows you to create using classic hardware controls and an integrated pop-up display, while it’s exclusive MPC Software empowers you with unprecedented, expandable production capabilities on your Mac or PC.

From start to finish it is definitely that melodic conversation you do not want to hear enviously through your neighbors walls. “Beat Die-A-Logue” takes you on an expedition through the soul with work that is laced with intrigue, emotion, authentic bass lines cutting edge drums and impacting arrangements that ultimately are Die-Rek.

The instrumental project, Die-Rek’s “Beat Die-A-Logue” transcends culture and language and is the fitting successor to “The Die-Version Project” that he released independently earlier in 2011. Die-Rek is definitely pushing the envelope for organic music production as can be heard on his last two releases. Big Noise recently caught up with Die-Rek to ask him some questions about his get down.

Q. Big Noise: Whats going down Die-Rek, how are you doing?

A. Die-Rek: I’m living…enjoying the snow-less weather while it’s still here.

Q. Big Noise: How is the weather in Toronto.. and what can you tell us about the Canada hip-hop scene?

A. Die-Rek: Right now it’s 5 degrees, where at this time of year it’s usually like -20 degrees, I call it “Global Warning”, ha ha. The Canadian Hip Hop scene is hungry. That’s the best way I can describe it, everyone down here is forced to kick down doors, if you get in their way you might get hurt.

Q. Big Noise: The Die-Version project is pushing the envelope on organic timing with that classic boom-bap sound… when did you get your start in the game?

A. Die-Rek: I put out a 12″inch single entitled “Questions” in ‘05, that was my debut internationally and from then on I’ve just been cataloging to keep things moving and consistent.

Q. Big Noise: Who does your beats and do you work with any other producers?

A. Die-Rek: I do my own production. Alot of my affiliates produce as well, so I’ve done tracks on their stuff in the past. An upcoming project that I’m releasing early next year showcases some of there material, but nowadays I try to keep it mostly Die-Rek so people can get a better sense of what I’m about.

Q. Big Noise: Where do you find some of your musical influences, can you elaborate?

A. Die-Rek: It’s music that I grew up on, Michael Jackson, Prince, The Commodores, Kane, BDP etc. I surf around the internet now and then, I’ve always been one to follow the “underdog”. I’m not really into the popular artist that are on the lips of people, I like to find the rare gems. That inspires me.

Q. Big Noise: The collabos on the Die-Version project are fresh, you have alot of positive messages in your lyrics, can you describe your witting process?

A. Die-Rek: It’s just based on my life, my faith and things that I have gone through or people that I know. Many times in music we hear allot of life’s problems, whether someone was cheated on, snitching, being shot etc. but we never hear about the answers. Where are the answers to these problems? …with my rhymes I’m into having fun with my lyricism as well as hitting real issues. I don’t only talk about things I go/went through, I talk about my victories too and how I achieved them.

Q. Big Noise: Do you come up with the lyrics before the beat or vice-versa?

A. Die-Rek: Back in the day I could never write to a beat playing in the background ha ha ha, I would get mad distracted. Now that I’m producing, I’m already going into the song with a vibe or mood from when I was making the beat, so when I’m playing my beats back now, lyrics automatically come to mind & I start writing.

Q. Big Noise: For those that may not be familiar with your work, any songs or albums you’d recommend?

A. Die-Rek: I think “Grown Man Biz” best describes where I’m coming from and what I’m about. People can find the video on youtube, or better yet Bignoiseradio.com! The song is featured on a project called The Die-Version and it’s available for free download at Die-Rek.com I would also recommend taking in my mixtape Die-VersCity it’s also on my site.

Q. Big Noise: Is it easier or harder for underground emcees to make a decent living today with all the mainstream influence? …Do you consider yourself an underground emcee or rapper?

A. Die-Rek: I think it depends on the artist, mainstream has made hip hop “marketable” so there are for sure more opportunities now than there were 10 years ago. I think your push determines the decency of your living. There’s always different ways to achieve things. At the end of the day you have to keep the attitude that everything is a work in progress, you lose something especially on the indie level once you come to believe you have “arrived” and are owed something. …Emcee, it sounds more sophisticated, lol.

Q. Big Noise: How can your fans learn more about about Die-Rek and where can we purchase your music?

A. Die-Rek: I’m always current with my Facebook and Twitter pages and I am always connecting on there. All of my music that is currently available is heavy but free material at www.DIE-REK.com

Q. Big Noise: What other plans or projects does DIE have in the works for the future?

A. Die-Rek: In the New Year 2012 I’m putting it out there! Look out for an EP dropping early in the year. I’ve been working on some projects with upcoming artists, doing collabs, producing like a mad man, so be on the look out! Full length album dropping late summer. It’s going to be a fun year I tell ya!

Q. Big Noise: Any final words of advice for aspiring artist trying to break into the game?

A. Die-Rek: You get out what you put in, so work to the best of your ability and just be yourself, we are all fearfully and wonderfully made. Shalom.

Mid to late nineties sounds from New York have strongly influenced his style and has earned production credits with the likes of many hip-hop emcees…” We recently caught up with Endemic to ask him a few questions about his get down.

Big Noise: Peace Endemic…. what city are you from?

A. Endemic: Peace! I’m from Nottingham UK

Q. Big Noise: When did you get your start in hip-hop music?

A. Endemic: I had a few cuts on Stateside Mixtapes in 2008, and in early 2009 released my debut album “Terminal Illness” which featured Killah Priest, Sean Price, Ruste Juxx, Planet Asia, Hell Razah, the Wisemen & many more. The album was signed by NYC label Money Maker and I got flown to New York to carry out a promo tour including instore at the legendary Fat Beats record store. Which is of course now gone so I was happy to have done that. It was an amazing start that I’ll never forget ya know.

Q. Big Noise: What has changed in the game since you started?

A. Endemic: I don’t think much has changed on the underground level to be honest, still alot of good music being made, the mainstream stuff has gotten worse though!

Q. Big Noise: Who or what inspires you to create music?

A. Endemic: Some different things, soul music, working with new artists, stuff going on in my life - I think my mood at the time can dictate what kind of track i make.

Q. Big Noise: Do you considered your style of rap conscious music?

A. Endemic: Yeah, alot of the main artists I work with come with very conscious lyrics such as Hell Razah, Cyrus Malachi etc.

Q. Big Noise: Think we need more music with positive messages, how do you feel about commercial radio?

A. Endemic: Yeah there’s always room for more positive vibes its somthing that we all need to come back alot more because all the kids hear now is garbage lyrics on the commercial radio staions. People now need to search & dig for music with a little more substance; its almost gone from big stations & mainstream media.

Q. Big Noise: How is the hip hop scene in Nottingham?

A. Endemic: Yeah we got alot of dope artists here and the scene has a big history. Cats like the P Brothers, Cappo & Scorzayzee been putting out great music for well over 10 years now.

Q. Big Noise: What can you tell us about the last project you put out?

A. Endemic: On the label side I released Cyrus Malachi’s debut “Ancient Future” in April of this year to a great response via my No Cure Records imprint / IDC distribution in Cali. On the production side Duckdown records released a project I produced for Ruste Juxx “Adamantine” in september 2010. That featured Ill Bill, General Steele of Smif n Wesson, Skyzoo, Torae, Supreme of Boot Camp Clik & many more.

Q. Big Noise: Do you have any favorite producers?

A. Endemic: Favorite producers of all time have to be The Rza, 4th Disciple, Pete Rock, Dj muggs, Premier & Showbiz.

Q. Big Noise: Are there any new releases we should know about?

A. Endemic: Yeah Money Maker Ent / EMI Music usa are releasing my 2nd album in summer 2012 “Terminal Illness part 2″ So far this features Masta Killa, Tragedy Khadafi, Ruste Juxx, Dom Pacino, Killah Priest, Hell Razah, Shabazz the disciple, Bronze Nazareth & The Wisemen, Shabam Sahdeeq, Supreme, Cyrus Malachi, Bugsy Da God & Shaka. The album is about 50% complete so keep em peeled for the rest of the featured emcees! - I’m also working on collaboration albums with Hell Razah & Bronze Nazareth / Kevlaar 7 which should hopefully both be out in 2012 so keep a look out for those too..

Q. Big Noise: Do you have any upcoming shows?

A. Endemic: I’ll be doing tours for the new album in the fall 2012. Peace & thanks for reaching out!

Recently presented on the Cobert Report TV show, we now present to you the official single “Fix Up” by Talib Kweli and Mos Def aka Yasiin Bey, released in 2011 as they reignite the duo Blackstar. The lyrical flow is reminiscent the show-off style defined by allot of emcees from the Rawkus era which culminated with the Rawkus 50 releases. These two artists helped to define hip-hop history!

Talib and Mos have not only managed to keep it real with their music, but they have been able to transcend commercial barriers and break into the mainstream music industry in a way we can all be proud of. Topics in their music have ranged from political, to community, to god and back to the streets to tie it all together in a real-world way. The discography’s under these two emcees is immense as well as historical, their songs are soulful and musical and most certainly had something to do with today’s complex musical canvas displayed by modern hip-hop music! This modern hip-hop sound is embodied by producers such as Madlid who produced this single as well as 9th Wonder, Boonie Mayfield and the late great J. Dilla, to name only a few. Check out the track courtesy of BamaLoveSoul, it’s dope hip-hop music!

Showcasing music taken from Talib Kweli’s album “Beautiful Struggle” released in 2004, check out the trailer for the forthcoming documentary on Blackstar directed by Video Rahim and starring; Talib Kweli, Kanye West, Mos Def, De La Soul, Common, Hi-Tek, Jean Grae, The Beastie Boys, Dave Chappelle, The Roots, Jay-Z, Pharrell, Killer Mike, Fat Lip, Damon Dash, Rosario Dawson, Pete Rock, Marc Ecko, Mad Lib, The Dungeon Family, Bobbito, Black Sheep and Cee-Lo. This is definitely a must see for any hip-hop enthusiast!

The discipline and creative skills needed to fabricate the works of art presented by Paul Jr Designs; the business sense, the organization, the personal sacrifice and the blind determination are all part of the formula for successful entrepreneurs. The dysfunctional separation between father and son, the lack of respect shown to Paul Jr by Paul Sr are classic issues within the American family. Why can’t the father embrace his sons excellence and be proud in passing the torch?

Paul Jr and his team already served his father big time in the Cadillac build-off 1 where the PJD team actually cut the tail lights out of the CTS-V Cadillac, modified the lenses and built them into their own rear fender that completely captured the Cadillac feel. The exhaust, rims, rear air ride system, paint and elegant lines all took the project over the top. In build-off 2 we get to see them go toe-to-toe again with a third challenger, Jesse Jame previously from Monster Garage. The picture above is the amazing “redunckulous” entry by Paul Jr Design’s, hand built from aluminum, copper, wood and steel it is a work of pure art from head to toe.

I personally think that the PJD team is going to take it again with their P51 Mustang influenced, 777 inscribed masterpiece; Paul Sr and Jesse James were talking a bunch of stuff that they really can’t back up with actual product. If you want to see their entries you can peep them at American Chopper Bike Build Off 2. Just like allot of mainstream rappers talking a bunch of mess without any skills to back it up, don’t do it - like Jay Electronica says in Exhibit C “…lions disguised as lambs”, that’s the way to get down!

For those of you who are aspiring to be entrepreneurs and players in the music business try to use this as an example; it’s all about your passion and your craftsmanship. You never have to be trendy or sellout to bring great music to the table. The industry may be caught up in disco music, ABC rhymes and funny outfits but that dose not mean that you have to; dose it? Think outside of the box, create artwork with every project!

About Paul Jr Designs: Although Paul Jr. has always been mechanically inclined, it wasn’t until he was 25 that he realized the depth of his creativity. In 1999, he created the now world-famous logo for Orange County Choppers, a custom motorcycle business he co-founded in upstate New York. With his God-given talent and eye for design, he went on to create some of the most recognizable theme choppers in the world, including the Black Widow Bike, the Fire Bike and the Jet Bike, as well as working with some of the top companies in the world such as Intel, NASA and Gillette.

After ten years in the steel business and ten years building custom motorcycles and a brand through OCC, he is taking all he has learned and applying it to his new company, Paul Jr. Designs. Brand loyalty is a key part to this new venture as well as partnering with the right companies. Shortly after opening it’s doors, Paul Jr. Designs caught the attention of it’s first major client, The Coleman Company. Paul Jr. Designs was hired to redesign the 10-Year Anniversary model of their popular Roadtrip Grill and signed a contract to review and improve across their entire product line.

“I’ve never felt so inspired. Paul Jr. Designs gives me an opportunity to take my creativity to a whole new level. This new company will be the most challenging, but by far the most rewarding.” In 2010, after taking some time off, Paul Jr. will be returning to his “first love”, building custom choppers for Paul Jr. Designs.

His choice of beats and music define the new influence of neo-soul music on the modern hip-hop movement. Haling from Canada this Victoria native proves that you don’t have to come from the states to be a classic hip-hop emcee. Keep an eye out for this multi-talented artist / entertainer about to takeoff, or land, at an airport near you!

Moka Only is also an award winning producer. His organic rhythms, use of sound-bites, soulful melodies and complex arrangements will definitely remind you of Madlib and the late great J. Dilla. Check out his beats on the project Barbecued Horse Contest Instrumentals under Wondering Worx. Currently based in Vancouver British Columbia he was previously part of the hip hop group Swollen Members, and briefly a part of Len. He has worked with a few companies to date with albums released by Legendary Entertainment, Domination Recordings, URBNET Records and Wandering Worx Entertainment.

Artist Bio: Moka Only (aka Daniel Denton) spent his early days developing his graffiti skills in Victoria, BC, before trading in his paint cans for a mic. Having found his true calling, he rhymed non-stop at house parties and anywhere he could find ears. After a brief stint in San Diego, Moka rooted down in Vancouver, where he established himself as the Canadian hip-hop icon he is today. Known by a bevy of aliases (Ron Contour, Flow Torch, Durable Mammal) Moka boasts a resume of collaborations even longer, including J Dilla, Aceyalone, OH NO, MF Doom, Buck 65, K-Os, and Sixtoo. He spent some time in the group Len, with other notable group projects including Swollen Members, Souls of Mischief, Living Legends and Jeff Spec. Historically a lyricist, Moka has also developed a signature production style proven infectious and highly sought-after, ultimately making him a wildly innovative and successful solo artist.

These are full length instrumentals and the sound quality is on point. This instrumental album by khaderbai takes you back to the golden era of hip-hop production with a clean gritty sound. Fresh beats and a nice variety of samples across the project give it a nice lounge vibe, music you can drive to, chill to or provide an ambiance to most any occasion. Albums like these show us that the worldwide hip-hop movement is alive and well with our people striving for complex soulful music in their diet.

Released on Band-Camp in September 2011 this album is available digitally as well as a limited edition physical CD run of 300 with 6 page booklet. DJ’s and Emcees this is something you’ll want in your beat collection. Peek or purchase the project below, name your own price.

Khaderbai, a rather private beatmaker from Zurich, Switzerland, presents with “d schildchrodd” the first installment of the krueml series, a format designated to exhibit his productions in their original, instrumental form. The record is a selection of beats, which blend craftily soul, jazz and funk samples with hard drums and at times obscure sounds, all in the nostalgic spirit of boom bap music.

Hip Hop Occupies and the POC Caucus of Occupy Seattle present an urban arts-infused event that redefines protest and self-determination. In solidarity with All People’s Revolutionary Front, and in partnership with 206 Zulu, Dope Emporium, Black Orchid Collective, and over a dozen other local Hip Hop organizations, collectives, and businesses, “Rise & Decolonize! Let’s Get Free” aims to create a new model for engaging and empowering youth, people of color, and other voices in the ‘Occupy Movement’.

The “Rise & Decolonize” program will feature a march down to Westlake, performances from over twenty local DJs, emcees, and b-boy/b-girl crews, speakers, live art and cipher spaces, as well as a survey to canvass and identify local demands around youth service, media justice, economic displacement, and other issues directly impacting underrepresented communities in Seattle. “Beyond entertainment, Hip Hop is a potent organizing base,” says Julie C, emcee from Hip Hop Occupies, “and through this event we are providing a timely access point and channel for our communities to be represented.”

Movement Quotes: “Hip Hop History Month [November] is a reminder of the struggle’s intensity and how under any circumstance and by any means, change can be made,” says King Khazm, Westcoast Regional Director of Universal Zulu Nation and founder of 206 Zulu, “Let us remember and overstand this legacy so that we can be the change we want to see, shaping our own future.” Jace Ecaj, veteran emcee from Black Stax and founder of Dope Emporium adds, “The actions of the movement are aligned with the consciousness of Hip Hop Culture. The time is now to create an infrastructure that reflects the attitude and respect for basic human rights and balance to the people.”

Event Date: Friday, November 18, 2011
Event Location: Westlake Park, 4th & Pine in Downtown Seattle

Having been introduced to the music in 1988, Diablo Archer has grown with the hip hop culture ever since. He’s witnessed the comings and goings of various groups, styles, and regions, but he has always recognized the importance of honesty in music. Few artists have been able to capture the everyday struggle of the average person vividly and interestingly enough to compete with the extreme dramatizations that have become prevalent in today’s rap music. Diablo Archer is well on his way to becoming one of the best at painting extraordinary images of ordinary life.

Having shared the stage with names like Cesar Comanche (ABB Records), Sin (ABB Records), Supastition (Reform School Music), L.E.G.A.C.Y. (Hall of Justus Music Group), and Little Brother (Atlantic Records), has enabled Diablo Archer to constantly improve his live show and stage presence. Splitting writing duties with other notable artists such as Edgar Allen Floe (MCEO Records), Median (Halftooth Records), K-Hill (Kick-A-Verse Media Group), and Tiffany Paige (Shaman Work Recordings), has allowed him to sharpen his skills as a writer and as a lyricist.

With five well-reviewed independently released solo projects on his resume, Diablo Archer has been planting seeds for a fertile career in hip hop. Now, it’s only a matter of time before the fruits of his labor start to ripen.

The man is definitely covering all basses, hailing from Norfolk Virginia Nottz is one of those multi-talented hip-hop artists who raps, produces and gets down on the 1’s and 2’s. With production credits from the likes of Kanye West, Busta Rhymes, Rah Digga, Snoop Dogg and others, the man has a proven track record. Expanding on his creativity, the producer presents his M-I-C skills on the debut album “You Need This Music” released October 2010.

The first thing you notice about the album is the sound quality, everything sounds big, wide, heavy hitting, tight low-end and crispy highs. The album begins with a solid Intro, showcasing drums by Travis Barker. The album has that beautiful organic vibe to the music, track 3 “Blast That” delivers a producer / emcee collabo with Detroit producer Black Milk. The late great J. Dilla is represented in spirit through producer Nottz on this album, his influence is shown throughout the project. On Track 4 “Shine So Brite”, the Virgina based producer mentions Jay Dee proclaiming, “You see how people went crazy when he dropped Donuts, and if a sucka didn’t like it, he gotta be fucking nuts not to mess with the Dilla dog”. Influenced by the Detroit vibe, Nottz recruits Dwele on the title track, “You Need This Music”. The song provokes emotion from Nottz, as he proclaims, “Some folks just don’t get it, Ya’ll need this music!”.

The song “How Long Will It Last” showcases the diverse production skills as Nottz flips a previously used sample with a new organic twist, the bass-line is very impressive. As with most albums every song is not 100% dope but the album as a whole is good, showcasing excellent hip-hop production skills. There are tracks that will please hip-hop heads and others that will please mainstream fans, the producer’s rhyming style may divide listeners. For a debut release this project shows us we have much to look forward to from upcoming projects by Nottz, producer / emcee definitely on the come-up!

How Long Will It Lat Ft Joy Denalane

Following a long line of great producer / emcees such as J. Dliia, Pete Rock, Madlib, Black Milk, Dr Dre and many more Nottz shows us that rhyming over your own beats is often done by some of the best producers to hit the scene. There is no border or global location that can proclaim owner of the producer title, the next great producer may be just around the corner in a local neighborhood near you.

Nottz Bio: Norfolk Virginia native, Nottz’ first major placement was in 1998 with Busta Ryhmes, when he was just beginning a successful production career that now spans over a decade. Nottz’s consistent success over the years stems from not only his natural gift for production and great relationships built with the artists he has worked with but also his love of music, his humility, and his manager, Darryl Sloan, who he has worked with for over a decade. “You Need This Music” released by Raw Koncept Media Group, Inc.

Some of Nottz’s biggest records to date include, Snoop Dogg Ft R.Kelly “That’s That,” Kanye West Ft Lil Wayne “Barry Bonds,” and Scarface Ft Trey Songz “Girl You Know.” Adding to those credits is a seeming never ending list of credits you will find his works with, including Notorious B.I.G, Swizz Beats, Karndinal Offishall, Bilal, Royce Da 5′9, The Game, 50 Cent, Dwele, Murs and Asher Roth just to name a few. When it comes to press on his career and work, Nottz has been featured and mentioned in almost every urban market publication and website, and is regularly referred to as “Your favorite producers favorite producer.”

Most people know Nottz from his production, but the past few years he has been building a fan base and earning his stripes as a respected and talented artist. On Oct 12, 2010 he is set to release his debut album You Need This Music. The album will be executive produced by Nottz himself, his production schedule is still in full motion. Nottz’ upcoming projects include work with Dr.Dre, Bilal, Rah Digga, Scarface, Stacy Epps, The Game, Snoop Dogg and Snoop Dogg’s new group The Hustle Boyz. When asked about his personal goal for his music, you won’t hear the answers like money, fame, cars or clothes. Nottz explains his goal for his music by simply stating “To take over the world one day with my sound.”

First off we want to thank all the folks who took time to submit tracks to the “All I Need” remix contest. Lots of tight up-and-coming producers out there. After careful consideration we’ve chosen a young producer currently residing in Arizona as our official 1st place winner. Mel Raymond goes by the name DJ DN3, his proven track record brings organic timing, great melodic arrangement and complex bass orchestration to the remix. The use of filters adds an extra dynamic to the arrangement. The sound quality is on point as well as the mix. For our runner up we’d like to introduce you to Unda of Beatfreaks hailing from Switzerland. His remix sounds tight and brings a 80’s sound-track flavor to the song. The mix sounds big and the production is definitely on point. Check out both remixes on the players below.

DN³ - The product of Chester, PA and RAHM (Reform and Healing Movement) Nation producer, artist, and DJ. In the late 90’s, DN³ developed his craft working with Philadelphia’s now defunct “3rd Floor Productions” – a production company started by himself, Johnny Bang Bang (Equalizer Beats), and the late Dane “Black Asian” King. From there he worked with various up and coming local acts from Philadelphia. Projects include Musiq Soulchild’s demo, which made way for his debut album “Aijuswannasing”. DN³’s sound could be defined as a true school and soulful Hip-Hop experience. Influences in musical style have a great variety ranging from the late J. Dilla, Marley Marl, Pete Rock, Sergio Mendes, Madlib, Wes Montgomery, and many others.

Early production works include a timely collaboration with RAHM Nation founder, Ohene. Ohene’s highly acclaimed “The Rapademics” was DN³’s first executive produced and mixed project. This venture lead the way to working closely with other RAHM Nation artists such as Random AKA MegaRan. Random’s “The Call” was another project that was heavily touched by DN³’s soulful and grimy sound. Since then, DN³’s technical work, such as production, mixing, and quality control, has been a major force behind Random’s ever-growing position in the Hip Hop world. Check out more DN3 joints on SoundCloud.

“Mega Ran”, a most notable album from Random, has been one of DN³’s greatest accomplishments as a producer/engineer. The project was conceived from the minds of Hip-Hop and video game lovers such as Random and DN³. Production of the “Mega Ran” album included samples from the classic Capcom Sci-Fi action game, “Mega Man”. This tribute gained the attention of video gamers and Hip-Hop fans alike. Even Capcom (creators of Street Fighter II, Mega Man & Resident Evil) endorsed the project for official licensing.

Currently, DN³ resides in Phoenix AZ along with Random. There are current plans to relaunch a True School Hip-Hop internet podcast show. The podcast will be formatted to showcase current quality Hip-Hop music by influential artists, classic joints, as well as music by affiliates. Past guests of the show have included Little Brother, Shock G of Digital Underground, K-Murdock Of Panacea, Kev Brown, and many others. DN³ Currently DJ’s at The Hidden House - a longtime Hip-Hop stable in Phoenix AZ. “This Is Chess Not Checkers” is the current project on bandcamp.com.

List of projects and artists DN³ has worked with:
* Frank N Dank - ‘This Is Chess Not Checkers”
* Tanya Morgan - “THe Memorandom”
The groups growth over the past 5 years or so has been exponential, with each release they have polished all aspects of their game. The latest release titled The Panic Button is confirmation to the accolades they’ve received for their work. The album is chalked full of classic hip-hop hits and is a must have for any hip-hop connoisseur.

New York City may be the birthplace of hip hop, but some may say Detroit is where it currently lives. Long known for its roots in R&B and Soul, the city of Motown has more recently bred some of today’s hottest hip hop performers such as J Dilla, Eminem, eLZhi, Black Milk and Guilty Simpson. Enter The Regiment, and their latest album The Panic Button.

Quote From The Regiment:
“The definition of a Panic Button is ‘a button to push in order to summon help in case of an emergency’. This album plans to do just what its title infers. According to hip hop fans, the state of hip hop has been called everything from mediocre to outright dead. It’s in a state of emergency. We plan to deliver a hip hop musical masterpiece so crowd-pleasing; it will serve as the metaphorical equivalent of the Panic Button.”

The Panic Button features guest appearances from Kev Brown, Finale, Boog Brown and Substantial as well as amazing vocal performances by singer Vincent J. Kelley. Production is provided by Soulution, Apollo Brown, Kev Brown, Newstalgia, Soulgate, Beat Butcha and Beatnick Dee. The Panic Button was released in September 2011 on HiPNOTT Records, available digitally on iTunes and on compact disc.

About The Regiment:
Modern day hip hop has become a battleground where false messiahs of materialism have often gained the upper hand, but MCs OSI and IseQold of The Regiment are the positive force for change in music. Based in Detroit, OSI and Ise defined the Regiment as something more than just two men. A regiment is comprised of a number of people fighting for a common cause, and when the cause is something as vast as hip hop itself, there’s no way two individuals alone can get the job done. OSI and IseQold now lead The Regiment, a collective of fans and music lovers who want more from their music and are willing to join the battle. Dealing with the everyday struggles of trying to make it in a sometimes brutal world, The Regiment leaves the gold plated fantasies to others. Taking cues from artists diverse as KRS-1 and J-Dilla, The Regiment lyrically mixes the uplifting as well as the painfully truthful with production that hankers back to the days when hip hop wasn’t a dirty word, when people of all ages could listen and enjoy musical truth.

Have we reached the horizon for such an existence within our own country today, the good old U.S. of A? Obviously we live in a time where corporations have become so monstrous and manipulative that they don’t really care about what we think, their number one concern is their bottom line… it’s time to take it back!

Americans have recently hit the streets in record numbers, united and unified on the message that Wall Street and corporate America have failed us, over the past 50 years greedy executives and corporate policies have steadily moved in the direction that keeps their pockets fat and our pockets in “rabbit ear” status. More Americans are currently homeless or unemployed then we’ve ever seen in recent history, megalithic companies are creating monopolies and forcing independent businesses out in the cold.

Right here in the Silicon Valley we see criminal activity where corporate executives have been allowed to outsource all the hi-tech jobs that could be generating revenue here in our community. Somehow government officials have turned a blind eye while the criminal activities continue. Look what just happened to “Solyndra” in Fremont, CA - 500 million dollars and those criminals were actually allowed to claim the 5th, let me or you try to steel 500 thousand dollars and watch how quickly they throw the book at us, my god!

Every corner in our community you’re seeing the takeover - Target, Wall Mart, Home Depot, Lowes, Star Bucks, Chase, B of A, Apple, Verizon, AT&T and the list goes on-and-on… as citizens of this great country we have to hit em where it counts, in the pocket book, at the bottom line. It’s time for us to boycott these behemoth greedy bastards, they don’t care nothing about us. Shop at your local mom-and-pop stores for everything, shut down that unnecessary cell service, write your local congress-folks and company executives, give them a piece of your mind. Let them know we care about our community and country!!!

Ever since the corporate media outlets have been promoting shows like Cops, The First 48, Rookies, K9 Cops, Lockdown and other such shows police in our community have gone from a “protect-and-serve” mentality to a “I’m-the-man” mentality. Most police no longer have any respect for their community and with recent profiling, shooting, killing, brutality and community thefts we find that the ones who are suppose to protect us are under marching orders from the ones who want to undermine our existence.

About Shamar Thomas: Thomas is a 24-year-old Marine Veteran (2 tours in Iraq), he currently plays amateur football and is in college. Thomas comes from a long line of people who sacrificed for their country: Mother, Army Veteran (Iraq), Step father, Army, active duty (Afghanistan), Grand father, Air Force veteran (Vietnam), Great Grand Father Navy veteran (World War II).

United States Marine Corps. Sgt. Shamar Thomas from Roosevelt, NY went toe to toe with the New York Police Department. An activist in the Occupy Wall Street movement, Thomas voiced his opinions of the NYPD police brutality that had and has been plaguing the #OWS movement.

I grew up listening to Gang Starr, Wu-Tang, EPMD… and so on. So when this album started coming together and I started working with dudes who I grew up studying and idolizing; like Preem, Muggs, Beatminerz, Steele, Mad Lion that made all the bullshit of the industry worth it to me. Working with DJ Premier, is personally the most important point in my career. He’s my favorite producer of all time–hands down. Everyone who contributed to this album killed it and definitely brought their “A” game.

DJ Premier quote: “Apathy is the FIRST artist that I allowed to mix down a record that I produced… EVER!!! Shouts to my engineer Eddie Sancho who influenced him.”

Apathy is preparing to take his career to another level with the release of his third-solo LP, Honkey Kong, which will be released on 8-23-2011. The Connecticut emcee and The Get Busy Committee (Apathy, Scoop Deville and Ryu released Uzi Does It in October 2010) and AOTP member has undeniably crafted his best project to date and it includes production from Apathy, DJ Premier, DJ Muggs, Statik Selektah, Evidence, Da Beatminerz and Teddy Roxpin among others. Guest appearances on Honkey Kong include Xzibit, Slaine, Vinnie Paz, Esoteric, Ill Bill, Celph Titled, Action Bronson, General Steele (Smif N Wessun) and Mad Lion.

Included is the first official lead-single from Apathy’s forthcoming Honkey Kong LP, “Stop What Ya Doin’” featuring Celph Titled produced by DJ Premier: Thanks to 2DB for the premier!!

New Video: Apathy “Check To Check” produced by Evidence first single from Apathy’s LP release “Honkey Kong”. This video was filmed in February, in the dead of an east coast winter, to capture the sullen vibe of the song. Filmed with mostly family and friends (and a few strange extras who had no idea they were being filmed), “Check To Check” is an honest look at really real life sh*t.

The man who claims to be from “The Rewind Era,” gives plenty of rewind moments through this 8 song EP. With raps by the hundreds Zero takes listeners on a fast paced journey of emotional highs, whether it’s his motivational undefeated slogan “72 Dolphins,” or the infectious bounciness of “#1 With a Bullet.” Zero is out to make certain his name will soon be mentioned alongside your favorite underground emcees. Check out the video “72′ Dolphins” below. Check the stream and purchase link of “Don’t look now“, you can also keep up with Zero Star on FaceBook.

About Zero Star: Raised by wolves in a remote jungle in the rainforests of Brazil, is where a young wolf pup named Zero Star would hone his howling skills. In wolf culture howling skills translate into what we know in the human world as “rapping ability.” In one verse Star can take the listener through a number of regions with his ever changing flow, cadence, and rhyme pattern. He uses his delivery in such a manner; it’s as if his voice is another instrument. It doesn’t take the listener long to hear the influence of the 90’s in his music. While that influence is a consistent theme, it never feels overbearing to the ear. In fact, to hear it brings nostalgia that most hip hop has been missing. Zero is an artist that looks to his past, to bring awareness to his present, and make way for his future. On stage Zero brings full energy in every song. He prides himself on never having a hype man on stage. You are compelled to move and nod your head while Zero bounces around on stage with supreme confidence. He believes less is more, so when you see him on stage often times it’s nothing more than two turntables and a microphone. He’s always looking to keep the crowd involved, making you feel as if you’re hanging out with two hundred of your best friends.

In 2006, Zero released his debut LP “Forever’s Never Really That Long,” on Weightless Recordings. With a newcomer by the name of Ree-Dic, and underground champion Blueprint at the forefront of the production, the album received warm responses from critics and listeners everywhere. However, due to some legal setbacks he wasn’t able to continue the momentum gained from the album. In 2009, he was the opener on the Diabolical Fun Tour with world renowned lyricist Illogic. With 2011 on the horizon this looks to be Zero Star’s biggest year. With a new project “Don’t Look Now,” set to drop in the summer, and the long awaited second album to follow, Zero Star will be a name that avid music listeners will be saying very soon. Catch the man from “The Rewind Era,” in a city near you this summer and fall.

Adoniyah has a smooth vocal tone with a dope flow that will appeal to both hip-hop heads and rap fans. His lyrical choreography brings a nice grown flavor to his music.

Hailing from Nashville Tennessee - Hip Hop artist Adoniyah is generating major buzz within underground circles with his new project “Rise Of A Thinker”. His songs have been featured on websites such as, HIP HOP RUCKUS, Yo Raps, ALLHIPHOP, HoodGrownOnline, Forbez DVD , The Source , and the list goes on. He has also been nominated for Song of the Year at the 2011 Underground Music Awards. The new project will allow listeners to gain insight on Adoniyah as an artist, as well as promote his brand of “organic, completely original” hip-hop style.

New songs “Young and the Restless” and Ghetto Boy” have created major buzz. The Urban Buzz Factor writes that Adoniyah delivers positive, thought provoking music, with an edge. “The purpose of the project is to give my listeners quality music that speaks to them, while being something they can relate to,” states Adoniyah. He has performed within the underground music circuit in Nashville, Des Moines, and recently performed at the A&R Power Summit in NYC.

Adoniyah was born and raised in Gary, Indiana. His hip hop influences include KRS-1, Rakim, Nas, Big and Tupac Shakur among others. He perfected his craft slowly over the years and has now become an artist to be reckoned with. His hard work paid off in December 2010, when Universal IMG offered the young artist a recording deal, which was subsequently turned down. Since that time Adoniyah has released an onslaught of rewind factor, head noddin’, Hip Hop banga’s!!!

ADONIYAH’S LP “Rise Of A Thinker” is set to be released Sept. 6, 2011 on DatPiff for download, as well as purchase physical or digital copy from his website.
Hailing from East Oakland, Calif., home of legendary artist Too Short, T-Ran first became infatuated with hip hop at the age of seven through the movie “Krush Groove.” Influenced heavily by the likes of Kanye West and Lupe Fiasco, hip hop has served as the gateway to T-Ran’s dreams. Using music as his outlet, T-Ran considers “living out his dreams” opening for acts such as Big Sean and Rick Ross.

The lead single “Feeling Good” released on April 15 received over 1,000 downloads within hours of release. Currently in Washington, D.C., T-Ran plans to embark on the “Still Dreamin’” promotional tour to perform in various markets in Washington, D.C., New York, N.Y., and Philadelphia, Pa. now through December 2011.

The state of Hip Hop is at a turning point. With many artists attempting to take over the internet with the next popular hook, very few are focusing on the soul of Hip Hop. As an upcoming artist, the Oakland, CA native T-Ran (born Ta’Darrell Randolph) plans to bring the essence back.

He describes his music as raw emotion and expression; it is a pure reflection of him. “Never was a sand box kid used… that time to dream/ Knew the power of them before I knew of Dr. King/ Look now I am living one/ and I’mma live it up until my livings done,” T-Ran spits over “The Intro” track. At the age of 21, he wakes up every day with a musical mindset. He takes pride in being a lyricist who refuses to conform to society. T-Ran will continue to dream, believe and execute to change the unbalanced state of Hip Hop to an industry filled with love, passion and substance.

His genius has been revealed on this epic release: Ox 2010: A Street Odyssey and showcases a career that has spanned decades. Now available at all retail and online outlets.

In 2010 Vast Aire signed with Independent label Man Bites Dog Records (Copywrite, MHz and Killah Priest). OX 2010: A Street Odyssey features Multi-Platinum and legendary Wu Tang Clan artist’s Raekwon and Cappadonna. Vast Aire also reached out to Guilty Simpson to get on the Ayatollah produced track “The Verdict.” Always having a talent for finding the best producers- Vast teamed up with the best: J Zone, Harry Fraud, Kount Fif and Thanos.

Vast says, “I pulled different vibes from books. I even use jokes that make a great point. I love using popular culture as a reference. Whenever I write… I always try to find my inner guru.” The debut video “Nomad” is reminiscent of Cannibal Ox but will hit you harder. The second single “Thors Hammer” features Raekwon. Vast says, “I got close with GZA and he invited me to a show and the rest is history. The song is based on the power of OX-TANG CLAN’S MUSIC!”

Touring with an array of Hip-Hop giants from The Fugees- Lauren Hill, Wu-Tang’s GZA, Ghostface, Cappadonna and Killah Priest to The Roots, Black Star (Mos Def & Talib), Boot Camp Click and Saul Williams… Vast Aire paid his dues. He’s secured his place in Hip-Hop history with a mass of loyal followers and the respect of the Hip-Hip media.

Vast Aire’s illusive career in Hip-hop should be analyzed, studied and extolled. He began his career before Hip-Hop was a culture… a force… a multi-billion dollar industry. Before the web and prior to Blackberry addictions; Vast Aire was spitting into the mic making a name for himself and for the legendary group that he created- Cannibal Ox. A true New York ghetto spokesperson… Vast Aire has circled the globe. He’s now poised to capture audiences again with the release of OX 2010: A Street Odyssey on May 31, 2011 on Man Bites Dog Records/ Fat Beats.

Approximately 10-years ago (Cold Vein was released on 5-15-2001) Vast Aire and Vordul Mega (collectively known as Cannibal Ox) released their seminal debut, Cold Vein, on Def Jux Records. Now, a decade later, the pair team up again with Raekwon for “Thor’s Hammer” which appears on Vast Aire’s new solo-LP, Ox 2010: A Street Odyssey. Check out “Thor’s Hammer” below.

Artist BIO: The New York-based rapper Vast Aire first appeared on the East Coast’s underground hip-hop scene as part of the Atoms Family collective in the late ’90s, but he gained wider attention as one half of the duo Cannibal Ox alongside Vordul Megilah. In collaboration with producer El-P (also the head of their label, Definitive Jux Records), the quirky duo debuted with 2001’s The Cold Vein. This album’s mixture of hard beats, gritty street rhyming, and woozy, nearly psychedelic textures earned comparisons both to Wu-Tang Clan and A Tribe Called Quest, a tribute to the duo’s ability to integrate opposing influences.

Although Cannibal Ox never officially split up, Vast Aire soon turned his attention to his solo career beginning with a self-distributed mixtape entitled Dirty Magazine. His proper solo debut, 2004’s Look Mom… No Hands, featured guest appearances by Megilah, Madlib, MF Doom, and Aesop Rock, among others. In contrast, Vast Aire’s second solo album, 2005’s The Best Damn Rap Show, gave co-credit to producer Mighty Mi but otherwise lacked the presence of guest stars. Its release was followed by the reappearance of Cannibal Ox with 2005’s Return of the Ox, a live album recorded at the CMJ Music Marathon, and Deuces Wild saw Vast Aire returning to the solo game in 2008.
